What could be the best way to make my hair strong?

When it comes to having that lush healthy hair, the best thing you can do is make sure you are eating a balanced diet that provides a lot of essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals such as:

1. High Quality Protein

2. Iron

3. Vitamin A, C, D, and E

4. Antioxidants

5. Zinc

6. B Vitamins

7. Essential Fatty Acids

8. Sulfur

Where can I get these Nutrients?

For the most part, you want to focus on foods that are unprocessed, and have vibrant colors. Eating food the way nature intended is how we get back to better healthy hair. Some good examples include:

A. Eggs

Without a source of high-quality protein, you risk some serious hair loss because your body needs it to produce those lovely locks. Eggs are a cheap and protein packed solution. Eggs are rich in a compound called biotin (1), which is used by the body to produce a hair growth protein called keratin. They are also packed with several helpful nutrients such as vitamin A, B, D, E, iron and zinc (2).

B. Fruit

Natures treats contain a ton of vitamins and antioxidants that boost your hair growth. Vitamin C is an antioxidant helps the body absorb iron, and therefore prevents hairloss (3). Another benefit of vitamin C is that it helps with the production of collagen. Collagen is what helps strengthen your hair, and forms part of the hair shaft.

C. Avocados

The wonderful green food that we can’t seem to get enough of is here to help your hair. Avocados are full of vitamin E, an antioxidant that can boost your hair growth to levels unseen before (4). Hair growth is restored because vitamin E is able to stop the oxidative stress in the scalp.

D. Salmon

Rich in omega-3 fatty acids that may prevent and reverse hair loss. A 6-month study was done with 120 female volunteers which showed that hair loss was reduced, and hair density was increased significantly (5). This is especially helpful for people that suffer from dry hair. Thicker, shinier, fuller, healthy hair, yes please.

E. Lentils & Beans

Inexpensive and easy to prepare for the best hair because of all that they contain. Beans contain protein, B vitamins, zinc, sulfur, and biotin.

F. Oysters

A great source of protein and zinc that will boost the repairing of damaged hair. Low levels of zinc lead to problems like dandruff and hair loss (6). Not the most common food on your shopping list, but even once in awhile will help promote better, healthy hair.

G. Sweet Potatoes

Full of beta carotene, which gives them their orange color. Sweet potatoes are digested and beta carotene is converted to vitamin A soon after.  Vitamin A may be able to treat alopecia, and it also helps the body produce sebum (7). Sebum, is a natural oil that protects the hair and scalp from damage.

H. Nuts

Nuts contain several healthy fats, including healthy fatty acids such as omega-3’s. They also contain other nutrients such as vitamin E, B vitamins, biotin, and zinc. This combination of nutrients makes it easier to grow a thicker, fuller head of healthy hair.

I. Spinach

A great salad ingredient, and hair growth food such as this should not be ignored. Spinach is full of iron, and a great source for sebum, which is a natural hair protector. On top of that it contains other goodies such as essential fatty acids, vitamin C, and iron. All of these nutrients keep the hair healthy, strong, shiny and happy because of natures love.
